Combination Brows
What is a Combination Brow?
AKA Combo brows. Combination Brows as the name suggests is a combination of two forms of semi-permanent makeup techniques: microblading and powder brows (shading). Microblading hairstrokes are placed with a manual tool around the front and border of the brow to give the brow a natural look. The powder effect is applied to the body of the brow using a permanent makeup tattoo device to give the brow its fullness. The brow shape and thickness will be mapped to suit you and your facial proportions and based on your preference. All semi permanent makeup and microblading treatments are bespoke.
How Long Does it Last?
Combination Brows typically last for 12 to 24 months. An annual colour boost is recommended to keep the brows looking fresh. Your brows will eventually fade away if you don’t continue with colour boosts. There is no scarring or discolouration with the pigments used, so you wouldn’t know if you left them to fade out.
Who is it suitable for?
Combo Brows are great for clients with normal to moderately oily skin. So if your skin is too oily for microblading alone, combo brows might be a viable alternative. For someone with very sparse brows, the shading can give the brow more body, while the hairstrokes keep it looking natural.
Does it Hurt?
Like with microblading the sensation felt is that of a superficial scratch. The powder (shading) part is like that of a powder brow and is often described as twisting hairs. It is relatively painless, but pain tolerence is individual. On a scale of 1 -10 (10 being most painful) most of my clients put this at a 4.
